Do Your “Homework” When Faced With Bad Behaviour At Work – Paul Pelletier

Hi, it’s Paul the author of the workplace bullying handbook. And today we’re going to talk about something that a lot of people forget to do, when they realize that there’s bad behavior going on in their workplace, and the way I reference this task is homework. Often we acknowledge that there’s bad behavior going on and we’re really upset and we’re irritated or hurt but we don’t know what to do, and so one of the things I challenge you to do, is homework! And what does that mean? Well, ask yourselves what is there in my workplace, in terms of, workplace respect policies? What kind of processes are there for reporting bad behavior? What are the behavioural expectations, in other words, what’s the behaviour code in my workplace. All those pieces of information allow you to begin to formulate, what is the best thing for you to do in light of, bad behaviour. Once you do that homework, I’d love to hear from you, because I’m astonished at how different places different work workplaces resolve behavioural issues and what their workplace respect policies say. Thanks for listening. Talk to you soon
