You Ask, I Answer: What is Data Science for Marketing?


Christopher Penn: In today’s episode menina asks, What is data science? And why does it matter in marketing and content marketing specifically, but this is part one of a seven part series from the content Tech Summit that I’m doing in April. So if you have not had a chance to stop by there, and hopefully see you in April, and you should register to attend that show. Data Science is the practice and profession. It’s a profession of deriving meaningful insights from data using scientific methods. Now, that’s really important statement because a lot of what people think is data science tends not to be it tends to be something related analytics, for example, or statistics or coding. Those are all components of what data science is, but are not data science by themselves. analytics for examples extraction of the analysis of data, what happened? What does the data tell us? It’s important, right? We’re not saying any of the things are unimportant, they are very, very important. Reporting is the communication of data to somebody else engineering data engineering is the profession of trying to make data, easy to work with, easy to store, easy to access. Statistics, of course, is the mathematical field. It’s an entire field on its own, that you use in data science. But it is itself not data science and artificial intelligence and machine learning again, use some of the very similar concepts, statistics, coding, etc. But that is for the development of software, AI and machine learning. The fundamental output is software, data science, the fundamental output of data science is scientific inquiry. It is it is new knowledge that you’ve created from an investigation. And so data science has four key components. Number one is business skills and acumen, you have to be in tune with business to understand what it is that a business is trying to solve, what kinds of problems that you’re trying to solve, and it doesn’t have to be in marketing. It can be in finance, it can be in operations if you’re a scientific company, it can be about the science itself. You know, if you’re doing biotech, a data scientist can operate in any profession it is in any industry, it is a horizontal if you will. The second is statistical mathematical skills, you have to know statistics you have to know probability you probably need to know some linear algebra, but you need those mathematical skills as a data scientist because that understanding of the mathematics particularly of statistics, is vital to knowing whether or not your scientific experiments are valid or not. Are they reproducible? Are they other error rates, correct things like that. The third area is the technology and the coding skills. This is being able to work in a statistical language, our Python SPSS, take your pick. But there are a number of different technologies that you need to be comfortable with as a data scientist because you’re doing science on data. And the data is going to live in all kinds of crazy places you need to know some some SQL SQL programming to access data out of relational databases, you probably need to know some JavaScript to deal with JSON, JavaScript Object Notation language. So there’s all these technological things that are part of being a data scientist, but the most important the most important are scientific skills, understanding and applying the scientific method and is this which sets apart data science from everything else. It’s literally in the name as I said, science on data. And science is all about discovering new things right? It’s about proving new things. The scientific method is all about asking questions establishing a hypothesis, which is a provably true or false statement. And then the system of inquiry that goes around proving a hypothesis true or false. So, a real simple example would be this would not be data says, Hey, our conversion rate optimization is lower. Let’s Let’s improve our conversion rate optimization. How do we improve it? Okay, that’s that’s a very open ended question that is not a provably true or false statement. On the other hand, if you went into your website and said, based on the analytics based on our exploration of the data, we believe passive voice of the problem. The hypothesis would be converting the website from passive voice to active voice should improve conversion rates by at least 1%. Right? That would be our hybrid This is statement and then you would conduct experiments. To prove that true or false, you would convert some pages not convert other pages or use optimization software like Google Optimize, to show different versions of a page with different language to people and measure the conversion rates. And that is that science that scientific background that makes data science different than analytics or reporting or statistics or AI even that hypothesis you can prove true or false. And once you’ve proven it true or false in a reproducible, rigorous way, you now have a working theory and that we use that word very carefully because it is the scientific meaning not the general public being a general public meaning is a theory literally means to most people, I guess, right, which is not what it is. A theory in science is. This has been proven, it is open to interpretation, so is open to further experimentation with a refined hypothesis, but we have a working model of how we think The thing works. So if you did that experiment and you built a website that used active voice only and you saw 7% increase in conversion, your theory, your model of website conversion language would be that active voice improves conversion rates by 7%. That would be your model your scientific theory that you would put forth. And then again, you can repeatedly test it, you can test it on different websites and different industries and things to see if that model that theory holds up. This is what is sets apart data science from everything else. It is that rigorous testing to prove or disprove something. And so that’s why it matters in content marketing. That’s why it matters in any kind of marketing. If you’re using the scientific method along with the stats, the technology of the business document, you’re developing models of how customers behave, how marketing behaves in a way that allows you To, to reproduce and build on your knowledge base and to continue refining in a reproducible, replicable way you can do the experiment over and over again, you keep getting the same results. That is why data science matters. So, so much. A lot of marketing, people could just kind of guess, right, they just kind of trying things randomly. And that’s not the way to build a scientifically reliable method of doing your marketing. So really important, you can tell I could go on for hours and hours about this, but really important. That’s why the scientific method is so critical to what is data science, right? You have to be using the scientific method. You Ask, I Answer: Best Language for Marketing Data Science, R or Python?


Christopher Penn: IBM. In today’s episode, Maria asks, which is the best language to learn from marketing data science, R or Python? So the answer to this question depends, it depends on a bunch of different things. Number one, what you’re going to be doing if we’re talking pure data science where you’re going to be doing a lot of very statistics heavy work. I personally believe our is the better language. Because our is purpose built for statistics. It was originally a statistical language, very quick bit of history. There was a company and a product called SPSS, which is now owned by IBM full disclosure, my company’s an IBM Business Partner. And SPSS had its own programming language called s. And it was very good did a lot of great things is was also a very expensive product that a lot of folks in academia could not Ford. So, as happens in the open source world, someone said, Okay, let’s try and replicate the functionality without having to, to pay at the time the SPSS company exorbitant amounts of money for their software. And so a bunch of scientists and a bunch of coders came up with our, and that the design intent of our was to replicate the statistical language of SPSS. And so if you’re doing data science, you’re doing a lot of stats heavy work, I think AR is the better language to learn. Now, if you’re going to be doing machine learning, particularly deep learning deep neural networks of all kinds, and you want to be using the most advanced stuff, but a lot of that code and a lot of those Lang languages and libraries are going to be in Python. Python is the native language for a lot of those things that they’re written in. And if you can read my Thought and you can and work with it, you’ll have an easy time getting started with those those particular libraries because, you know, it’s it’s just familiarity with it. So it depends. Now here’s the catch, I would personally recommend are for data scientists across the board. Again, it’s designed for statistics. It’s designed for mathematics and the way it handles certain types of data. And the way it applies functions to them are much more efficient than other programming languages. A real simple example that in Python, and many, many other programming languages, if you have a table of data, you don’t just have like a spreadsheet. You have to do a call loop where you have to loop through each row and perform operations on each row in order to be able to process the data and get an answer our can address the impact Higher table all at once. So you don’t have to write code to Luke, you just reference the whole table and apply a function to that table. Want to add one to every every number in a column, it’s a very, it’s one line, you know, the table, the column, you know, and then plus one. And so for data science, it is a very efficient language. And the perceived disadvantage that R has, which is that can’t run the latest machine learning libraries is perceived only. There’s a package in our called articulate that allows you to run Python libraries and Python code inside of our and natively written with our so you don’t have to learn Python. You just need to know what are the reference points for the different functions and features you’re trying to use. And you can use Python within our so there’s that limitation is largely gone. Now. There may be some unique oddities here and there, as with any kind of Port, or any kind of conversion of languages, but for the most part, it’s pretty straightforward. The other thing that is useful is that our supports, you know, it’s your standard types of notebooks, Jupiter notebooks and things like that. And many of the leading data science platforms and tools and stuff, support this as well. So if you’re comfortable in both languages, you can write code back and forth and pass variables back and forth inside the same environment. For example, in IBM Watson Studio, you can run a Jupiter notebook that has Python code that has our code in it that has SQL code in it. And interchange which language is using especially if you are fluent in one language more than most other than another. You can step out of the language you’re comfortable in quite a few Latin lines of code the absolutely need in the other language, and let’s step back into the language. You’re comfortable And be able to run those heterogenous code blocks, all within one environments is very, very powerful. All these notebooks that a lot of data scientists use very, very powerful tools that don’t limit you to one language. That said, Our functions a lot more from a syntax perspective, like older languages like C for example. So if you are comfortable with those more traditional programming languages, you will do better with our mindset perspective. If you’d like the more freeform almost language based style of programming. Very object oriented than Python, you’re gonna you’ll you’ll enjoy Python better. I being somebody who has a little more gray hair than then so my compatriots lean towards our because I grew up you know, learning Learning Java learning, PHP learning these older languages that have, you know, much more rigid syntax. And I do better in those environments. I don’t do nearly as well. And in Python. If you’re starting from scratch, try out both and see which language you prefer. And it will, it will depend. What I would say is if you once you’ve got the basic syntax down of both languages, try writing a straightforward piece of code that, you know, say just as a very simple like linear regression, right? Very, very simple. But try and do it from memory, and try and do it. googling as little as possible and copying and pasting as little as possible and see which one feels more natural to you which one feels like okay, I can do this. So, and that will give you an indication of which of the languages is the better choice for you personally to pursue. It’s going to be different for every person. It’s going to be based on your preferences. how your brain works and what you are comfortable with? And what makes sense to you. There is no right answer with any of these data science tools. There’s no one answer that works for everybody. There are answers that best fit who you are as a person, the way you work, perhaps even the type of company you work at. And that is something that that’s what should make your decision is what you’re most comfortable with. Because all the languages all these tools and technologies within the data science and the machine learning communities are being ported back and forth to each other. If a tool becomes available in one language that isn’t available and another at most, it’s like three to six months before the machine learning community is like, Oh, I don’t want that too and they want to make support of it. So pick what is cut most comfortable for you when it comes to languages for marketing, data science, really good question and important question. What Is A VO2 Max Test? | Why & How To Work Out Your VO2 Max


– [Mark] Now we talk about
a lot of different metrics in sport such as heart
rate, pace, calories, cadence, and so on. But one that always turns
the heads is VO2 max. – Yeah, now you’ve all
likely heard the term VO2 max and with advances in technology these days is becoming far easier and accessible to be able to measure it yourself. In fact, this very watch here apparently can tell me my VO2 number. – Which is great, but
actually what is VO2 max and why is it thought to be so important? Well, today with the help
of the Sports Science Lab at the University of Bath and our channel partner Polar, we’re going to be answering just that and one of us actually
doing a VO2 max test. – Now, before we flip a coin here, Mark, let’s have a little bit of background about what a VO2 max is. Now, a person’s VO2 max is also known as their
maximal oxygen uptake. And, is a measurement
of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can utilize
during intense exercise. Now, the measurements of this are milliliters of oxygen used in a minute per kilogram of body weight. – Right, well, since oxygen is critical in fueling our muscles to perform, the higher your VO2 max, the better, the fitter you are in theory. And this means the higher
you can get your VO2 max, the more oxygen your body
can deliver to your muscles enabling you to perform better or faster. And by knowing your VO2 max, we can then accurately
create our training zones and train more smartly. So, to give you a little
bit of perspective of what we’re aspiring to, Greg Lauren, the ex pro
cyclist, had a VO2 max of 92.5. Kilian Jornet, the epic
ultra runner adventurer, has a VO2 max of 92. And it said that Paula Radcliffe, the previous women’s world
marathon record holder, had a VO2 max of 75. – Okay, well that’s all very well, but to give a little bit of context here, it is said the the average person, male, should I say, has a VO2 max somewhere between 40 and 45. And the equivalent for female is somewhere between 30 and 35. – Yeah, and that being said, by having a high VO2 max
doesn’t necessarily mean that you will perform
well and go win races and beat those with a lower VO2 max. Actually, a lot more
components are in play, such as your physiology, your psychology, but obviously having a
VO2 max and being fitter is important, will help,
but more crucially, knowing your own VO2 max, tracking that and seeing improvements in
that, is what we’re after. So, with all that, we should really look at how you find out your VO2 max. – Yeah, and there are a couple
ways that you can do this. But the first one that we’re
going to concentrate on is by going into a sports lab and measuring it that way. – Yeah and it’s time to
flip the coin, Fraser. Heads or tails? – I’ll go tails. – Ready? (suspenseful music) Heads! – Oh, it’s heads. And I’m guessing you don’t want to do it. – Not really mate, no. – All right, okay. Pull my socks up, get ready for test. (soothing music) – All right, so, behind me, Fraser has just started his VO2 max test. I’ve done a number of these over the years and I can tell you, they are not pleasant. So, I’m kind of pleased I’m
not on the treadmill today. You will notice though that
Fraser’s got a mask on his face. That’s staying connected to a
rather fancy bit of kit here. This is a gas analyzing machine. This is measuring the volume of oxygen that he’s inhaling and the amount of air that he is exhaling. And typically, during a VO2 max test, the athlete will perform
some form of ramp test where the intensity gradually increases until the athlete either
fails and has to stop, or their oxygen consumption plateaus. So yeah, like I said, this
is a pretty tough test. What happens during the
plateau during the test, is basically the athlete
goes from aerobic metabolism to anaerobic metabolism. Meaning that, they are
no longer using oxygen to fuel the breakdown of carbohydrates, amino acids, fats, and so on. Because there is simply
no oxygen to do so. So yeah, we are doing this in a lab, which also means that we
can take blood samples which is really handy, so
we can get lactate levels and we’re going to get that all
important VO2 max for Fraser. Good luck, Fraser! (upbeat music) Well, Fraser, valiant effort in there. That was, impressive. – Yeah, that’s one way
of putting it, Mark. I’ve only just stopped sweating now, about an hour down the road almost. I mean, yeah, it was only 11 minutes, so just under 11 minutes of running, but, it was a tough 11 minutes and that’s the whole point. The numbers in particular were starting at 11 kilometers an hour and then every minute increasing up about a kilometer an hour, so that got me to 20.5 kilometers an hour at my failure point. And then the crucial numbers at that point were 198 as a max heart rate,
which doesn’t surprise me. – That’s high. – Used to, no, yeah my heart
rate always went quite high. And then the whole point
in the test was the VO2 and now it comes in at 67.3. – [Mark] Which is also very
good by most people’s standards. Maybe not yourself, given
what you used to have, – Yeah, it seems– – but, you’re not practicing. – No, I know I’m not. I forget that. It seems quite low, but either way, if that’s what it is now, and– – And also, we were able
to take bloods in this. You got peak lactate of 7.6, which again is good.
– Milibles. Yeah. – Yeah. – Seems like a reasonable
number for working hard. – So a lot of interesting stuff there. But what if I told you, Fraser, I also got my VO2 max once
you were on the treadmill and I just sat in a chair. – Yeah, not entirely happy about this. How did you do that? – Well, on a number of devices out there you can do a fitness test. So on our Polar Vantage V, they have a fitness test function. Now, devices and brands differ. Some brands and devices require you to do a little bit of activity. This one in particular
actually just needs you to take your resting heart
rate, heart rate variability, and a few other metrics like
your height, weight, etc. And it will workout your VO2 max. So I did that. And I know what you’re
probably thinking out there. How on earth can that be accurate? Well, we’re going to put
this to the test here. ‘Cause I thought, you’ve now
got a very accurate VO2 max from the lab. – Sure do, yeah. – So here’s a heart rate, and let’s do the fitness test. – Okay, well, it’ll be
interesting to compare. (upbeat music) So I have just finished
doing my VO2 max test on the watch here. And, actually, I’m surprised at the number this has given me. This has given me 69.0,
which compared to my 67.3 from the very accurate lab test
I’ve just done this morning is very, very close indeed. – Yeah, I’m absolutely amazed by that. That’s really impressive. Now, obviously this isn’t quite
as detailed as a lab test, but it gives you a really
good ballpark figure and hopefully that changes
as your fitness changes. – Yeah, I mean there’s pros and cons to everything of course. And with the lab in particular, you know that it’s going
to be in a very controlled environment, you’re going to
have extremely accurate results, very detailed results as well, and you’re also going to get
some more detail in there with things like the
efficiency you’re running at, heart rate values obviously, and your lactate is coming out there, and so on and so forth. – Yeah, I guess though on the flip side, the down side of a lab test is,
well firstly you need access to a lab which for some
people, just isn’t possible. – Yeah. – Well now they are becoming
increasingly more available. Then you need to find
availability within that lab, be able to book in. That’s going to cost
you and it’s hard work. – Yeah, where as with this fitness test on the watch, it’s free
to use once you’ve paid for the watch in the first place and you can keep doing that whenever you want going forwards. It’s also very easy and
instantaneous information to get from the watch as well. – Yeah so just keep doing
it over and over again. But then as I mentioned already, obviously it’s not as detailed and maybe as accurate as
a fully fledged lab test, but it’s open to anyone, as
and when they want to use it. – Yeah, so I guess now Mark, we have to decide what do we actually go and do with this VO2 max information? – Well and go compare
everyone else, obviously. – Yeah, true, actually. I was thinking maybe more in terms of what we could do with our training. – Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, obviously from this you then will be able to calculate your training zone. So theoretically, using your VO2 max is probably the most accurate way of calculating those training zones. So those percentages of your VO2 max for your training zones are
on the screen right now, so make sure to take
a screen shot of that. And the idea being if you go ahead and train to those training zones, you’re really like, bang on the money and should really see an
improvement in your fitness and hopefully your performance. So that is what VO2 max is, how you can find out your VO2 max and what you do with it. Now, if you have enjoyed today’s video, make sure you give us a thumbs

How to work with Flexmonster Pivot Charts


Hello and welcome to Flexmonster Pivot Table Component. In this video, I will show you how to work with pivot charts in our component. With pivot charts, you can visualize your data in a new way. Now we are looking at a column chart containing lots of elements. To focus on a smaller amount of data, we can filter out values. For example, we want to see information for January and May. So, we click on Month, deselect all values and choose only January and May. Here is the result. In the upper left corner, we see that current visualization is based on Unit Price. By using the drop-down list we can switch to another active measure. Now our chart is based on Quantity. When we click twice on any graphic element, we see the drill through pop-up containing the raw data. We can select more that one hierarchy to columns or rows. Let’s open the Fields List and select Payment Method to rows. Now at the left of each month, we see a plus icon. It means that each month can be expanded to show underlying values. If we have one hierarchy with multiple levels, the same plus icon will also be shown to drill up and down the hierarchy. For multiple hierarchies or single multi-level hierarchies selected to columns please use the plus sign on the legend. Our pivot chart can show several measures at once. To achieve that we choose Charts ->Multiple values. Here we see that Sum of Unit Price is shown as red color and Sum of Quantity is shown as blue. In the drop-down list, we can select which measures should be shown. Now let’s see how to switch between different chart types. Use Charts tab and select the chart type here. Whether they’re revolutionizing baseball, winning big on Wall Street, or predicting healthcare trends, statisticians know how to turn data into useful information and tools. Statisticians design surveys and experiments to collect data and create models and algorithms that turn numbers into understandable concepts, identifiable trends and patterns, or conclusions. Startups looking to expand quickly, and well-established businesses alike need the help of statisticians to make decisions. Though they work in many fields, there are some common statistician specializations: Government statisticians monitor wages, the unemployment rate, and other important socioeconomic indicators. They analyze data and shed light on trends in the economy, the environment, pollution, and many other national and global arenas. Biostatisticians predominantly work in the healthcare industry. They may design drug studies or study how diseases spread. Clinical data managers collect data from medical research projects, analyze it for trends, and ensure that it’s kept secure and reported accurately. Corporate research and development also employs many statisticians. They may design experiments and analyze experimental data for product testing or to help inform marketing strategies for consumer goods. Most statisticians need at least a master’s degree in statistics, math, or a related field, although some entry-level jobs are available for those with a bachelor’s degree.

How to set up dimensions in Dynamics 365 Business Central


Set up dimensions. Hi, and thanks for watching. This video shows how to set up dimensions, which help analyze business transactions. For example, track sales revenue per geographical area or customer segment, track expenses per department, and so on. The setups depend on what we want to analyze and the structure of our company. In the Business Manager Role Center you will find the dimensions set up under Home, Setup and Extensions, Manual Setup, and Finance. Choose Dimensions. A dimension named Department is provided, so we’ll use that. To define the values that we can choose for this dimension, choose Dimension Values. Departments has values for three departments: Administration, Production, and Sales. If needed we can arrange dimension values in a hierarchy like a chart of accounts. Now we can add our Department dimension to transactions so we can analyze the transactions later. We’ll make it easy to enter dimension values and do basic analysis by making a dimension global so it’s available throughout Business Central. Journals, documents, and look-ups in the general ledger. Global dimension should be dimensions we often use. Create global dimensions in the General Ledger Setup window by choosing Change Global Dimensions. We can add default dimension values as defaults to master data like customers, items, vendors, salespersons, and general ledger accounts so we don’t have to enter them on every transaction. We’re tracking revenue and expenses for departments so we’ll add defaults to customers because they belong to the sales department. Let’s look at a Customer card. There we choose Navigate, and Dimensions. This customer always buys through the Sales office, so we’ll use only this value. In the Value Posting field, we’ll choose Same Code so that Business Central uses only the Sales value. So what happens when we post a sales invoice where the default values differ from the customer and sales person? It’s a problem only if Value Posting is set to Same Code for both the customer and sales person. If we don’t set the value posting parameter or require a dimension, we can set up a hierarchy in the Default Dimension Priorities window so that Business Central picks one. Search for Default Dimension Priorities. The Default Dimension Priorities page shows source codes, which are types of business transactions. We’ll prioritize the tables to get dimension values from. For example, for sales, customers are first priority if there is a value. The salesperson is second, and then the item. If there is no default dimension we’ll add one so we can analyze the data. Posting with dimensions is easy. Typically, default values do the job for us. However, for special transactions like corrections, we might want to change the dimensions. For documents, default values are assigned to the headerd an used on lines. We can change both. If we do, Business Central asks if we want to update all lines. New lines use the new values. And we’re done. Thanks for watching. visualizations on the fly, that is to say it is really easy to jump between your
visualizations in tableau. So tableau actually visualizes data from the very
start allowing you to see this significant right way. Now tableau also

Basic Excel Business Analytics #03: Goal Seek For What-If Analysis


Welcome to Highline BI248 class. Hey, if you want to
download this workbook file, this is BI248 Chapter 7 Start. You can click on the
link below the video. Now we’ve already
completed this sheet right here quad fixed cost
variable cost profit. We actually added this sheet
and created this whole model in last video, video number 2. In this video, we want to
see how to use Goal Seek. Now I actually want
to insert a new sheet. So I’m going to click
on Calculate Revenue and use our keyboard Shift
F11 and then double click and call this Goal Seek. And Enter. Now, I want to come
over to this sheet and highlight our assumption
area and our model area with our [INAUDIBLE]
Control C. Come over to Goal Seek and Control
V. Now I immediately want to come down to this Smart tag. Click and I select Keep
Source Column Width. So there I got my column widths. Control and roll. And now here’s
what we want to do. Here is our total profit. And obviously, we are allowed
to change these inputs. So I want to figure out what
the break even point is. So I come here. I’m going to type 3,000. Just like that, I get a
profit much larger than break even because break even is zero. So I come down here
and I try 2,100. Well, that’s negative. Well, I could iterate
back and forth till I zero in on
units or quantity that would give me exactly zero. Control Z. Control Z. Instead, I am going to
use an awesome feature. Now I want to scroll in here
and talk about a feature called Goal Seek. Goal Seek will allow
us to tell a formula to evaluate to a
particular answer by changing a formula input. But in order to use
Goal Seek, if I hit F2, that formula has to be
using that formula input. Now notice this is
not directly using it. It’s using total
revenue, total cost. But when I come
here and hit F2, you could see this formula is using
the formula inputs from above and our decision variable. This one is using– oh,
that one right there. This one is using,
oh, the total variable cost from above and
our decision variable. So all of these formulas are
influencing this last formula here. And there’s a number
of times where we’re using this decision variable. As long as you
have a cell that’s connected either directly or
indirectly to a formula input you can use Goal Seek. Ready? We go up to Data. Data Tools. What If. And Goal Seek. The keyboard in
Excel 2007 or later is Alt, A, W, G. Now
that’s three letters. If you want a shorter one, if
you know earlier Excel versions keyboard– that means 2003
earlier– then Alt, T, G. And I like Alt,
T, G because it’s the old Tools menu Goal Seek. So Tools Goal Seek. Now, Set Cell. That has to be your formula. To value. Notice that this does not
have a collapse button. We cannot link it to a cell. The value you want your
formula to evaluate to has to be typed in. Now we’re talking
about break even here. That’s a when profit
is exactly zero. And tab. By changing cell, that’s
our formula input. When I click OK, just
like that, look at that. It gives me 2,661. And click OK. So if I believe the demand
is greater than 2,661 then I would consider
making the quad product. Now notice here we
changed quantity. I’m going to change this back. Control Z to 2,000. That is not the
only variable we can change because what
if we didn’t think we could get demand of 2,601? Well, other potential
variables we could change if we believed that
it would be OK to up the price and we could still have
2,000 sales then watch this. We could use Goal Seek to
change that formula input. Alt, T, G. Automatically,
I have that cell selected so it thinks I
want to change that formula. Tab. To value, that’s
the value I want this formula to evaluate to. Zero. Tab. By changing. That’s a formula input. And any one of
these could be OK. I’m going to click that one. And click OK. So 1,871, when I click OK, if
that was an acceptable price then we could use that
as our price or more to get above our
break even point. Now, I’m going to Control Z
and leave the original 1,650 and the original 2,000. Goal Seek. Incredibly useful
as long as you have a formula with formula inputs. You want to say what the
formula should evaluate to and Goal Seek will change
that formula input. Now in two videos
ahead, we’re going to do data tables, which takes
Goal Seek to another level. But when we come back
in our next video, I want to do a brief
video on the formula for break even number of units. All right. We’ll see you next video.

curated list of the best google spreadsheet add-ons. I spent like an hour going through all of
them. My two favourites are these ones: Supermetrics is a really practical tool to
import all of your business data into a single Google Sheets. You can import your Google Analytics, Moz
data, social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) AylienText Analysis allows you to analyze
and summarise text. You can analyze its sentiment, find concepts
and individual entities inside text. It’s basically really cheap way of doing
natural language processing. Now here’s a little section where we wanna
share some updates on tools that we use regularly. First of all Hotjar has a great new function
that allows visitors to highlight and give feedback on specific parts of the website. Mixpanel also just launched Singal which allows
you to run correlation analysis of events that are correlated to retained users. And also I’m pretty excited about this one:
Buffer now let’s you create different content, depending on which social media platform you’e
posting to. So you are gonna have one post for Linkedin,
one post for Facebook and a different post for Instagram, all scheduled at the same time. Speaking of content for Social Media, movies
or moving images are the new big things… GIFs are the new norm right? Well thanks to Stefan for recommending this
tool from Giphy. We’ve tried a bunch of these animated gif
creators, but this is currently the best GIF maker around. Now this is Paolo making a gif of himself
editing this video right now. Kind of weird, right? The UI is absolutely to die for. There are some cool export options. The only minus point is that it’s only available
on Mac. So, if you are on PC users we recommend licecap,
