‘Dream big, work hard’: high school, fruit picking and family separations

My name is Ashley Solis. I’m a senior at
Watsonville high school. I’m currently applying for universities. Me being first generation going into college, it’s a bit like, I don’t know what to do,
like, where do I go? As I go on to choosing
my own decisions for my own life, in a way it’s kind of difficult. I get in at 10pm and then I go to work. Other one where I’m usually
at is on the frost freezy. I had to take out the
little pieces of fresas [strawberries], they have a lot of ice on them. Your hands get like, really cold. And then I get out usually at 6am. What I would do is like,
I would come home and then sleep for an hour and then like
wake up, get dressed and then go to school
and try to finish, like, all the homework they gave us. Are you going to shower first?
I want to shower first. Yeah? Me. Are you gonna shower too? Where we live, it’s not an apartment. It’s just a room for like six of us. They give you guys a lot of homework?
Or not? Am I pulling your hair? I kind of had to miss the school because,
like, my mom had to go to work because if she didn’t go to work there wasn’t, like,
no money for rent. And, you know what, I had to stay
with my sisters and take care of them. That’s the one we always use, right? Good morning Watsonville high school. And congratulations
to our Wildcat softball team. You know what, those softball girls
have really demonstrated if you work hard, you can get to your dreams. Have a great weekend Wildcats,
dream big, and work hard! Let’s hear some of those
impressions out this way! Most surprising, most interesting,
most exciting and engaging about what you just saw. Don’t all jump. It’s … I know, slow down everybody. Try to put your hands in order. That’s agency, that’s what agency
looks like when I talk about you guys having agency,
that’s what that is. The things I want you
to be thinking about for next week, we haven’t talked about college
in a little while. I want an update on scholarships
you applied for, what schools you’re narrowing
it down to, your decisions, I want to know what schools you are going to, I also want to be able to talk to each of
people about financial plans, in other words where have you gone
with this, how have you progressed … If we take a look at your attendance … How’s your attendance? I had a 36 cuts. They had told me
I wasn’t going to graduate. I helped out my parents with money. They didn’t ask me to do it, but I mean,
I knew they [what] they were going through. Through the problems with
money and everything, so I just had to help out. So in a way I’m trying to be a help for them but it is gonna be straying
me away from my goals. Once you get in, if you’re hit with the
smell, as I ride away, you know, hard work. It’s an everyday thing you have to do. At the fields, they’re really not going
to, like, care about, like, if you’re feeling bad.

“Our Green New Deal for Europe will tackle underemployment & involuntary migration” Part II | DiEM25

Martin Schultz disent “Nein”.
Si vous lisez notre New Deal européen,
Notre New

Donna Brazile to Lou Dobbs: This is a migration crisis

CAMPAIGN FORMED ANY SORT OF AGREEMENT WITH RUSSIA. JOINING US TONIGHT IS DONNA BRA STILL DOILL DONNL DONNABRAZILE. GREAT TO SEE YOU.>>IT’S BAN LONG TIME BUT I HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU. LOU: YOU BETCHA AND I HOPE THE SAME FOR YOU. I KNOW UP WITH THING. WE’RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.>>I REMEMBER. LOU: AND THE FIRST IS WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A DEMOCRATIC PARTY THINK IT’S DOING REFUSING TO SECURE THE NATION, THE NATION’S BORDERS AND TO TAKE CONTROL OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.>>FIRST OF ALL, YOU KNOW, GOING BACK TO 2006 WHEN GEORGE BUSH WAS PRESIDENT, 2013 WHEN BARACK OBAMA WAS PRESIDENT, DEMOCRATS, ESPECIALLY DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE HELD VOTES, THEY WERE STRONG SUPPORTERS OF BORDER SECURITY, ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY THAT PROTECTS THE BORDER, ADDED MORE BORDER AGENTS TO INSURE MORE BORDER AGENTS TO ENSURE THAT THOSE WHO WERE CAUGHT WERE APPREHENDED. WE CAN COME UP WITH AN APPROACH TO SECURE MEXICO’S SOUTHERN BORDER. AS YOU KNOW, ONE FIFTH OF THE PEOPLE CROSSING THE BORDER ARE ACTUALLY APPREHENDED. BUT I DON’T PAINT PEOPLE WITH A BROAD BRUSH. THIS IS GOING TO TAKE A LITTLE MORE TIME FOR THE PRESIDENT TO MAKE SURE THAT CONGRESS WORKS WITH HIM AND THE VICE PRESIDENT WHO IS SITTING DOWN WITH MEXICO’S OFFICIALS, HE’S BEEN TO CENTRAL AMERICA. WE’VE GOT TO BE MORE AGGRESSIVE IN DEALING WITH THE CRISIS DOWN IN MEXICO. LOU: WELL, HERE WE ARE WITH A NATIONAL EMERGENCY AND THE CRISIS. YOU MENTIONED 2006. 2006 AND ’07, THE PERIOD IN TIME IN WHICH COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM IT WAS THEN CALLED THE KENNEDY-McCAIN ACT. WHAT BLEW THAT UP WAS CHAIN MIGRATION, FAMILY MIGRATION, IF YOU WISH, EXTENDED FAMILY MIGRATION, AND THE RESULT IS WE ARE, ACCORDING TO THE LATEST STUDY, RESPONSIBLE STUDY, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 22 AND 30 MILLION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN THE COUNTRY. WE DON’T HAVE ANY MORE TIME. AND THE WAY WASHINGTON, AS YOU WELL KNOW, KILLS ANY SOLUTION IS TO TRY TO MAKE THE PROBLEM EVER LARGER. WE HAVE A SECURITY PROBLEM AND WE NEED TO SECURE THE BORDER. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT, AS I DO, THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO PAY A HEAVY PRICE, WHO ARE THE, BY THE WAY, THE RINO REPUBLICANS GOING TO PAY A HEAVY PRICE IN 2020 FOR NOT SECURING THE BORDER.>>LOOK, I KNOW THAT IMMIGRATION IS A BIG ISSUE, BIG TOPIC OF CONCERN. MANY AMERICANS CARE ABOUT IT. WE’RE GOING TO TRY ON THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SIDE TO GET THE TALKS BACK ON THE TABLE. WE GOT TO HAVE A COMP HENCE UF APPROACH TO IT, LOU. WE CAN’T DO A BAND AID AND CALL IT A WALL AND GO HOME. THIS IS A MIGRATION CRISIS. THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS RUNNING AND FLEEING VIOLENCE. THEY’RE LOOKING FOR SAFETY. AND YES, I KNOW THE DRUG CARTELS AND OTHERS ARE SMUGGLING. LOU: YOU CAN’T JUST SAY YOU KNOW THERE’S A LITTLE DRUGS. THERE’S 70,000 OPIOID OVERDOSE DEATHS IN THIS COUNTRY EVERY YEAR BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF METH AM METHAMM METHAMPHETAMINES, MARIJUANA, COCAINE, HEROIN, FENTANYL ARE CROSSING THE MEXICAN BORDER.>>SOME ARE CROSSING THE BORDER IN PLAIN VIEW. I’M NOT MINIMIZING THE RISK. I’LL NOT MINIMIZING THE DANGER. I’M SAYING THIS CRISIS THAT WE’RE FACING TODAY IS NOT GOING TO GET ANY BETTER AS LONG AS WE’RE JUST, YOU KNOW, CALLING PEOPLE NAMES. WE GOT TO — LOOK, CENTRAL AMERICAN LEADERS — LOU: FIRST ONE CALLING NAME BY THE WAY IS THE LEADERSHIP OF THE REPUBLICAN SENATE. DONNA BRAZILE, GREAT TO SEE YOU. I’M GLAD TO SEE THAT WE’VE REACHED SUCH AGREEMENT OVER THE YEARS.

Office 365 tenant to tenant migration – how to do it?

Migrating Office 365 from one tenant to
another is a common scenario, to which there is no good native solution. Migration with PST files is not really an
option if you value data security and integrity. Thankfully there’s a tool that allows an easy and secure migration between Office 365 tenants. CodeTwo Office 365 Migration Why use this software for tenant to tenant migration? Well, you can create and license target users automatically. Simply choose users from your source tenant and let the program take care of setting up the target tenant. There’s no need to use CSV or PST files. With our simple interface, you can migrate all items effortlessly. You avoid manual work or PST-related issues. You can apply filters. Here’s an
example of how you can use them: Create a migration job to move only the items that are not older than 30 days. After this data gets to the target tenant, the users can log in to the new organization and start working on it right away. And you can migrate the remaining data inthe background later. Downtime? What downtime? The migration process is invisible for the users. You can migrate your domain after all the items get to the target location. Unlimited delta migration aka rescan: Have you ever heard about emails missing after migration? Not with us! If some items are not migrated over, or the users receive or generate new items during the migration process, you can click the rescan button to copy this new data to the new tenant. And you can do it as many times as you want. Do you care about data integrity and security? With CodeTwo Office 365 Migration, you can be sure that there is no accidental data loss, no third party is involved during the migration process, and that all data is encrypted on the move. And that is only a part of it. To learn more about CodeTwo Office 365

Trump keeps winning on immigration: Thomas Homan

HOUSE. LOU: THANK YOU VERY MUCH! KEVIN CORKE, A GREAT KICKOFF AND A GREAT DAY FOLLOWING. PRESIDENT TRUMP LAST NIGHT CALLING THE RADICAL DEMS OPEN BORDER POLICY, AN ATTACK ON THE AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS. OUR FIRST GUEST AND I HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT BATTLE FOR DECADES. TOM HOMAN, FORMER ACTING IMMIGRATION OF CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT. IT COULD NOT BE MUCH SWEETER FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP THEN WHEN HE MANAGED TO DO IN THE FIRST 24 OFFICIAL HOURS OF HIS REELECTION CAMPAIGN. AND TODAY, OFFICIAL WORD FROM THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT, DISPATCHING 6500 NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS TO THE SOUTHERN BORDER WITH GUATEMALA. TO THIS POINT, CARRYING OUT THE DEAL THAT LOPEZ OBRADOR AND PRESIDENT TRUMP MADE. IT’S WORKING. YOUR THOUGHTS?>>I THINK IT IS WORKING. I THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE KEPT AN EYE ON THE PAY THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP, THERE IS NO CARAVANS, A MANUFACTURED CRISIS. THE THREAT OF TERRORISTS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. THIS PRESIDENT KEEPS WINNING ON THE ISSUE BECAUSE HE’S BEEN RIGHT FROM THE START. I THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT FOOLED. THEY SEE THE FILM, THEY SEE THE DATA IN A CONCERNED ABOUT THE SOUTHERN BORDER. HELP FOR THE HUGE 24, I THINK AMERICA SAYS HE WANTS TO FINISH THE JOB IS BECAUSE CONGRESS IS NOT FROM THE COURTS ARE NOT HELPING LET’S HELP THE PRESIDENT DO WHAT HE PROMISED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HE WOULD DO. LOU: LET’S BE STRAIGHTFORWARD. PRESIDENT TRUMP SINGLE-HANDEDLY TAKEN ON THE ISSUES OF A LEGAL IMMIGRATION AND BORDER SECURITY. AND HE IS PREVAILING. HE NOW, IT APPEARS, HAS A RELIABLE PARTNER. EARLY DAYS I ACKNOWLEDGE. BUT A RELIABLE PARTNER, PERHAPS, IN LOPEZ OBRADOR. AND IF SO, IT IS AS YOU HAVE SAID FOR SOME TIME, A SIGNIFICANT QUOTE – UNQUOTE GAME CHANGER. A GAME THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. YOU HAVE ALSO BEEN DRIVING THE ISSUE OF INTERIOR ENFORCEMENT. WITHOUT WHICH THERE CAN BE NO LASTING SUCCESS. YOUR REACTION TO THE PRESIDENT’S STATEMENT THAT HE WILL BRING MILLIONS OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ORDERED REMOVED FROM THIS COUNTRY THAT I.C.E. WILL BE REMOVING HIM FROM THE COUNTRY. WHAT ABOUT THAT CONCEPT?>>YOU AND I BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR MONTHS. I WAS SAYING, WE NEED TO GET OUT THERE AND EXECUTE FINAL ORDERS ISSUED BY JUDGES. DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS STOOD OUT THERE IN SAN DIEGO IN THE FIRST CARAVAN CAME IN THEY WERE SCREAMING AND YELLING. THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO CLAIM ASYLUM, A RIGHT TO SEE THE JUDGE PEERED OKAY AND I’VE HAD THAT RIGHT AND THE FEDERAL JUDGE SAYS YOU MUST LEAVE BUT NO ONE IS LEAVING. I.C.E. WILL DO WHAT THEY DO EVERY DAY, BECAUSE WE DO A LOT MORE. THE PRESIDENT UNDERSTANDS IS A NEEDED CONSEQUENCE AND DETERRENCE. WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS AND WE NEED TO RESPECT THE LAWS. ALSO, AS I TOLD YOU BEFORE I GET A PAIR THIS PRESIDENT RECOGNIZES THAT IT WORKS. THE PRESIDENT WANTS I.C.E. TO DO THEIR JOB. AND I SAID IN MY OP-ED ON FOX NEWS, I WILL START SCREAMING YELLING. EVEN THOUGH IN 15/16 I DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING. LOU: AND YOUR ARTICLE ON FOX NEWS, THERE’S ANOTHER PART OF THIS THAT I FIND FASCINATING. THE PRESIDENT SAID, INSTEAD OF WE ARE GOING TO BE DEPORTING OR REMOVING THESE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WHO HAVE HAD DUE PROCESS AND ARE UNDER COURT JUDGES ORDER TO LEAVE, HE DID NOT SAY WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING SO WITH HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS AS WOULD BE THE TEMPTATION FOR THE POLITICIANS. IN WASHINGTON OF BOTH PARTIES. HE SAID WE TALK ABOUT MILLIONS AND GOOD FOR HIM BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS QUIBBLING OVER MILLIONS. IT WAS A BRILLIANT TACT ON HIS PART.>>YEAH, WE KNOW THERE ARE OVER 12 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS HERE. THERE’S AT LEAST 100,000 FAMILY UNITS. THAT HAVE NOT SHOWN UP IN COURT. ONCE REMOVED I THINK THAT WORKS AND ONE THING I WANT TO ADDRESS I READ IN THE MEDIA, TRUMP TOOK DOWN — I WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING PERFECTLY CLEAR. WHAT THEY DO IS GIVE INFORMATION ON SPECIFIC INFORMATION THAT TARGETED CRIMINAL ALIENS. PEOPLE HERE ILLEGALLY THAT WERE CONVICTED OF CRIMES. GIVEN ADVANCE NOTICE IS DIFFERENT. I WANT I.C.E. TO STEP UP. WHAT THEY DO, IT’S A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Inside San Diego's $810m human trafficking industry

I was out there alone and I got picked up by a guy in a truck he wanted oral sex and so while I was doing that to him I felt him put his hands on my head like he wanted to just crack my neck he didn't kill me and uh I went straight home and I cried myself in human trafficking sometimes I was forced that I'd realized wait a minute I'm making all the money here I'm doing all the work so then I would change it and then somebody would you know beat me up and trap me in a hotel room for a while and then you know until I could get away from that and if you're living this life you want out there's nothing for you on the other side yet buyers and sellers of other people are just like everyday people that you would meet on the street or who would looked a whole lot like your uncle I think the biggest challenge we have in addressing this crime is the victims frequently don't want to cooperate they don't see themselves as victims this issue in particular it's closer to home than people realize and it's something that happens in every neighborhood in America it's rooted in racism and it's rooted in poverty and social marginalization in San Diego County we have somewhere between 3,000 and 8,000 victims of sex trafficking every year I was fooling the strings how do we have this in America's Finest City going when everybody think it is all they see is SeaWorld and the beach and the glamorous but it hurts all to say around everybody was playing hockey and pretty sure you're gonna be a hockey player I saw your environment and where you grew up at in the environment I grew up in was it wasn't right I caught felonies for trafficking facilitating and it was stupid because I was just trying to follow what I seen and I learned the hard way instead of listening to who been to it and was it was telling me don't do it don't do that I was introduced to the street life at an early age my father ran out on the family next thing you know I was approached on the drug side and on the pimping side these girls holding on the streets will starting to give me money and stuff and so I was cool with that you know and started going out there me and my brothers and we started learning his trade but eventually got busted selling hair on and you start waking up that you know maybe there's something else that you need to be doing we're probably gonna come down soon just just to kind of talk a little bit in 2011 the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to address the human trafficking issues we don't want to hide it and pretend it doesn't exist when there's an ugly truth there and this model is really pretty unique we produced a report that had recommendations and showed a way that we can address it in an evidence-based manner once you put things down on paper that means you've just committed as a whole county to address this for the first time there are numbers to reveal the extent of human sex trafficking in San Diego County we're talking about child prostitution and the larger problem of human trafficking but now for the first time in San Diego's history there was a brand new team with a dedicated group of crime fighters trying to stop it it was an incredibly complex methodology and it involved gathering lots of different kinds of data and then trying to piece it all together schools had a piece of the puzzle victim service providers had a piece of the puzzle incarcerated gang members had a piece of the puzzle gang members in the community had a piece of the puzzle and law enforcement records contains a piece of the puzzle as well there isn't a neighborhood where there aren't potential recruiters potential buyers and enforcement potential victims when we first saw the results of this report I was shocked I knew it was a problem but I didn't realize the magnitude the amount of money involved it was a real eye-opener for us and it was valuable in trying to educate the rest of the community San Diego County has a 60 mile border with Mexico there's a lot of traffic back and forth across the Mexican border we partnered with our federal and state law enforcement agencies so we're not duplicating efforts to get these exploiters off the streets into jail many people ask us about the border thinking that sex trafficking must be high in San Diego because of the border well 80% of the victims that we identified were domestic I think that is something that folks are still struggling with human trafficking is very much seen as a problem for other people from other places but the majority here are domestically choppers human trafficking whether we're willing to acknowledge it or not doesn't mean that it's not there it's here this particular girl had known for a long time was a 21 year old pregnant prostitute and my parents ended up adopting her baby and that's how she became my sister all the sudden became you know very personal and I wanted to know how it was happening and who was doing it and what I learned was that there are stories attached to all the different roles and responsibilities that we see in the trafficking process a really significant finding is that this is not a black gang or african-american gang thing the pimps or the traffickers come from all different ethnic groups and that's a really important finding because law enforcement tends to focus narrowly on a particular population and that is effort in American things it's a lose-lose situation for a lot of minorities in this world when it comes to the police why not put it on a bottom of the barrel somebody that nobody's gonna fight for nobody don't care about we think that probably the majority of facilitators are white based on our data the most common recruitment tactic is psychological more often than not somebody is friended or boyfriend 'add and that relationship turns from a friendship into a coercive situation I said for me at that time was catching girls that had low self-esteem you know they needed something like a father em it's a Big Brother image or whatever I always had a loving relationship with mines you know we knew that it was a thing that we had to survive you want to make him happy so you do it and you don't feel like a victim you feel like he's your partner we're taking care of each other that that's not the case victims are manipulated into thinking this is a choice they're making in life their trauma is so severe it starts with being molested child abused witnessing domestic violence this exploitation is just another phase of their life where they are just being exploited and manipulated when I was eight years old my stepdad raped me every day all summer I thought for many years that I was part of it and that it was my fault my whole life I've been a victim and I never really realized that this is a social phenomenon with roots in marginalized communities that are lacking in services and where the home environment is very bad so how can we as a society own that we're hoping and we have seen signs that the research is also making an impact and impact on policy and what policies the city and also the state will implement or policies law enforcement will change a shift to we're just people we're just people that were that you know some of us never even had a chance from the very beginning you know I mean we need help so we're here there's no shade you can see all the people trying to find their families
