Trump on GM strike: Nobody is better to auto workers than me

THAT. I THINK WE HAVE A WAYS TO GO YET. REPORTER: DO YOU STAND WITH THE AUTO WORKERS IN THE GM STRIKE?>>I HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE AUTO WORKERS. I GOT TREMENDOUS VOTES FROM THE AUTO WORKERS. I DON’T WANT GENERAL MOTORS BUILDING PLANTS OUTSIDE OF THIS COUNTRY. THEY BUILT MANY PLANTS IN CHINA AND MEXICO. I DON’T LIKE THAT AT ALL. MY RELATIONSHIP HAS BEEN VERY POWERFUL WITH THE AUTO WORKERS. NOT NECESSARILY THE TOP PERSON OR TWO, BUT THE PEOPLE THAT WORK, DOING AUTOMOBILES, NOBODY HAS EVER BROUGHT MORE COMPANIES INTO THE UNITED STATES. YOU KNOW I HAVE JAPAN AND GERMANY AND MANY COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN BRINGING CAR COMPANIES IN, OPENING PLANTS, EXPANDING PLANTS AND BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN OHIO, INCLUDING LORDSTOWN, MOVE POSITIVE THINGS ARE HAPPENING. WE HAVE MANY PLANTS THAT ARE BEING RENOVATED EXPANDED OR BUILT NEW RIGHT NOW IN THE UNITED STATES, MANY MORE THAN WE’VE HAD FOR DECADES, DECADES. NOBODY HAS BEEN BETTER TO THE AUTO WORKERS THAN ME. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT TO WORK OUT BUT I DON’T WANT GENERAL MOTORS BUILDING PLANTS IN CHINA AND MEXICO. THIS IS BEFORE MY WATCH. I DON’T THINK THEY WILL BE DOING THAT. I THINK I HAD MEETINGS WITH MARY BARRA, HEAD OF GM. AND I DON’T WANT THEM LEAVING OUR COUNTRY. I DON’T WANT THEM BUILDING IN CHINA. I DON’T WANT TO BUILD THEM IN OTHER COUNTRIES. I DON’T WANT THESE BIG, MASSIVE AUTO PLANTS BUILT IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND I DON’T THINK THEY WILL BE DOING THAT ANYMORE. GENERAL MOTORS MAKES MOST OF ITS MONEY IN THE UNITED STATES AND TOO BAD THEY SPENT BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES BEFORE I GOT HERE. ONE OF THE THINGS VERY IMPORTANT IN THE USMCA WHICH WE HAVE TO HAVE APPROVED FOR, NOT ONLY FOR THE UNIONS BUT FOR THE AUTO WORKERS BUT FOR THE FARMERS AND FOR THE MANUFACTURERS, EVERYBODY, EVERYBODY WANTS USMCA. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT EVEN MORE SO NOW THAN IT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO

  1. Trump, "Nobody is better to auto workers than me…."
Reporter, "What have you done for US auto workers in action right now….?"
Trump, "Huh…. Fake news…." (points to another reporter)

  2. And what, Mr. Trump, is it that you've done for the auto workers? It was Obama's policies that bailed the industry out, saved our auto workers jobs and kick started the economy in the upward trajectory that you inherited. All you've done was to be inconsistent…all over the map. First you liked the idea of a bail out. When Obama actually DID something about it, then you complained about it. Then, when you became President, you lined up behind Paul Ryan's tax plan (you're not smart enough to put one of your own together) which gave huge tax breaks to corporations like GM and it's executives while leaving the workers behind. So, once again…what was that that you have done?

  3. Right blames left. Left blames right. Everyone is dumber for thinking any of these out of touch elites would fundamentally help American culture. Only morons would vote for this clown again 🤡

  4. What this country needs to do is give larger Tax cuts to Car Corporations in USA !!!!!!!!! Forget these OVERPAID "LITTLE PEOPLE " who build the cars !!!!!!! Just order more Robots to build them !!!!!!!!! Robots won't go on strike !!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Being a former union member I can only say what my experience was. Unions suck the life out of existing business. By putting a high tax on the business such as a 5 dollar a day welfare fund, health insurance that should be cheaper isn't, usually 20 percent higher per employee. This creates a snafu for business and employees by forcing the business to over charge for its products.
With today's labor laws, safety regulations and employee protection acts rendered the unions unnecessary. Just think of making a great wage, lower auto, food, baked goods prices make it easier for businesses to thrive while yet giving the labor force a better living and wage. Think about this, GM is striking, the employees on strike get a union stipling of 120 dollars a week more or less. The fat cat union bosses still collect a full paycheck, drive there big cars, and dine out on the backs of the striking employees. HOW'S THAT PROTECTING AND ADVOCATING FOR THE AMERICAN WORKERS?

  6. A bailout of the auto industry by Obama, a big tax cut to the Big Three by Trump. GM resolution lay off 15 k workers and close 5 plants. Thank you Corpation America.

  7. Usually, people who can find better jobs don't go strike! if you can't find a better job than working for GM, chances are GM really isn't that bad. The UAW is one of the main reasons GM got a bailout, of course, they're also the main reason US car quality has been consistently declining and why most US auto manufacturers have a terrible reputation.

If you're wondering why US auto parts continue to get outsourced consider looking at the capitulations US auto manufacturers have already made. Also is it a coincidence Gary Jones, president of the United Auto Workers Union had his home raided for illegal payoffs. Trump is the best thing to happen to the UAW, every single Democrat hopeful for President is pushing a climate change agenda which doesn't bode well for the auto-sector

  8. As an outsider, personally I think , Trump is definitely not the best president in US 200years history, also I'm not sure whether he will be a successful president or not, but guys, he is more like a person than a saint, blunt, real, greedy, empty…only an ordinary person.

Of course, I can't say I like him, then, that‘s non of my business.

  9. Plants are closing in the US.
Plants are opening in foreign countries
Trump fails again…..just ask the coal workers
Hillary told the coal workers the truth….you're jobs are gone, get trained for a new job.

  10. The protectionism is hurting, not helping, the economy. Stop the favoritism. Let companies fail and let the market readjust. Otherwise we’ll keep having big economic downturns at the cost of everyone else, for the sake of relatively small groups of rent-seeking workers.

  11. The liberal, Democratic media acts like this is the first time this has ever happened. This little stunt couldn’t be timed to influence the upcoming election or provide “heroic” Democratic candidate platitudes, could it?

If only we could get “journalists” to go on strike…..

  12. nobody knows China better than me
no body knows tarriffs better than me
no body knows wine better than me
no body knows farmers better than me

  13. 2923.32 Engaging in pattern of corrupt activity.

    2921.03 Intimidation.

This is just a couple state laws the UAW I worked for violated alongside the factory.

  14. Donald Trump sounded just like a politician.
Do you see the way he juked ?

Of course he hates unions, who in America doesn’t ?

All the union does is drive product cost up so a janitor can make $70 an hour.

It allows teachers to call themselves teachers with a 70% dropout rate and still get paid without fear of losing their jobs.

  15. Striking UAW's that already average 90k a year plus benefits. This union is strong arming an industry that has already closed plants and moved some production to other countries. They made 4 billion in profits last year. Instead of paying greedy union workers, a company that made over $4 billion in profits last year, paid nothing in federal income taxes and provided a huge compensation package for its CEO. start paying some taxes and restitution of the 50 billion dollar government bailout in 2008 that came out of the taxpayers pocket.

  16. The gov't attempt to take guns is already so over blown, an argument with a girlfriend, can remove your right to bear arms, so now not only will a woman break your heart, take half your stuff, and your right to bear arms, for nothing more than a misdemeanor. Seems a little excessive, and it didn't prevent any shootings as of late.

  17. My dad was a UAW auto worker. They went on strike then they Closed the plant. Levealed the plant nothing there now but slabs of concrete & unemployed. Hope they can work this out. They have good jobs. Best wishes for all my dad lost his job on the 80s.

  18. This is a free countrycan go and do what we want, when trump stole the election he thinks he stole a country.
And americans are his slaves. Twisted

  19. Give em a raise and build the damm mid engine Corvette!! Make the blazer in the hammock plant make a small car in Mexico for the s american market

  20. GM NEEDS TO BRING THERE COMPANY'S BACK TO THE USA!!! ID RATHER PAY MORE FOR A AMERICAN MADE CAR OR TRUCK!! CHINA IS GARBAGE, AND SO IS CHINAS PRODUCTS!! GM NEEDS TO COME HOME!!!

  21. Treasonous Trump should just shorten this often repeated statement to: “No one is better than me”. Reminds one of “The Arrogant Worms Song – – Me, Me, it’s all about Me.”

  22. The average GM worker makes $63 an hour – including benefits, which is ridiculous and why vehicles are so expensive. General Motors should fire them all, bring in replacements and ban Unions.

  23. Average salary at GM motors all in with benefits is $63 per hour. They get paid well. Trump has encouraged these companies to stay in America for their production. Maybe it’s better to let them close up shop there, and open in Mexico or China. Have they forgot that the Government saved GM from bankruptcy with bail out money. They’re lucky they have jobs. Idiots!

  24. 😂 said zilch about the cause of the strike. That dumb turd don’t even know the reason the union workers are striking.

  25. I live in dc and liberals buy foreign cars ( Toyota/Honda) . Most conservative buy truck/suv from big three .
If every liberal/ union bought s big three car there would be no problem .
    Total hypocrites

  26. Next DOL will be Scalia Jr. They don't come more anti-union than him. His history as an attorney is dispicable. Trump is a con man, duh.

  27. Trump outpaces Obama, Bush in naming ex-lobbyists to his Cabinet.
Trumps Cabinet choices are another sign that Trump's populist pledge to "DRAIN the SWAMP" is nothing more than a catchy campaign slogan. Trump has made no serious attempt to change the way Washington works.

These three cabinet choices alone prove that.
Wilbur Ross or Rothschild Investments- our Sec of Commerce.
Alex Azar of big pharma Ely Lily & co our Sec. of Health & Human Services.
Steven Mnuchin of Goldman Sachs our Sec. of Treasury.
'DRAIN the SWAMP' is just another GOD DAM Trump LIE.

  28. I don’t understand how people in the USA have fallen this far. It is NOT the responsibility of government to guarantee, nor create, jobs. The only legitimate role of government is to protect people’s RIGHTS to life, liberty, and property from enemies foreign and domestic AND to provide for the courts and justice system ( to ensure equality under the rule of law, not equality of outcome). Nowhere in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence is it written that government is there to guarantee wages, jobs, healthcare benefits, etc. You as the individual make it happen through your own labor. Adapt to the changing conditions, or perish. Either way, government is not to be the tit you can suck on at the cost of the creative and productive people who leverage their skills, capital, and time to provide the products and services that we all take for granted. Grow up and learn to be responsible adults. No person deserves to live unless they live honestly, and no person lives honestly who lives upon another. Also: End The Fed.

  29. Big things are happening in Russia, like Ford motor, and Starbucks. Why doesn't President Trump complain about that. He never complains about Russia😶

  30. no one sucks more than trump, plus trumps plants are still in China, Mexico and Indonesia.  Ivanka is still sending her jobs out of the USA too

  31. Thing is GM has been bailed out twice already and not sure how they historically performed, so bringing them back to the US is a must especially if the companies run on government spending.

  32. That leadership of GM wants to sell out because they're greedy they do not care about the future of GM these people that are in office at this time

  33. The US taxpayer bailed out GM for millions and millions of dollars. How do they repay the country? Move to China.
They are now reaping what they have sown. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

  34. if you fat Americans don't want a GM, he is more then welcome to come and build factory to us in Europe also…lol. We would work in GM for twice less money, than you in USA…no problem.

  35. He has no exceptional qualities in terms of speaking, writing, or intellect. He is the biggest simpleton ever elected to high office in the Western World. Its painful to watch him sometimes. I cannot believe the USA elected someone with such obvious limitations, to the Presidency.

  36. if bernie sanders was president all the people loosing their jobs would least have health care through medicare for all, trump did nothing for gm lordstown employees who lost their jobs to mexico ,talks big ,but does nothing for the workers,he let carries jobs go to mexico and did nothing, vote for bernie sanders if you want to help american workers and vote all those trash talking republicans out in 2020

  37. gm wants their employees to pay more for health care,if fox news and the republicans would stop blocking medicare for all with their fake news and lies, they would have medicare for all and could negotiate higher wages.but fox news and the republicans want to screw the american workers by spreading fake news and lies to stop workers from getting medicare for all.millions have lost jobs to mexico and canada and with medicare for all at least they would still have health care, if we pass medicare for all,but fox news and the republicans continue to try and stop bernie sanders from getting the workers medicare for all,fox news and the republicans are truly the enemy of the middle class and the poor.

  38. This post is about General Motors

    GM another Obama failure

Obama gave billions and billions to help GM a lot of that money has not been paid back to the taxpayers.

Again again general motors another one of Obama‘s failures

  39. Why is Obama so bad at speaking off the cuff? Wasn't he a lawyer?
Unless he's giving a rehearsed speech, he's always sayining "uh" and "um" when answering questions from reporters and interviewers.

  40. Obama

Noone ever showed him as a child how to write his responses on his arm.
So that is why he can't talk off the cuff, cause it's bad form to write on a pretty white shirt.
That is why he does the "um" and the"uh", when he is answering a questions.
I can't even say the word, so how in the hell do you expect a Politician to be able to say that word, let alone know what it means.
So what if he went to Harvard, that don't mean squat.
And if you have enough of your Daddy's money yu don't even have to go to class at all, in order to graduate from an Ivy League School.

  41. Barack is a constitutional lawyer, He couldn't hack it as
trial attorney. Thats why he chose research. there he doesn't
have to speak off the cuff. He loses track easily when he
isn't scripted. Starts to stammer and studder. More than
likely problems from childhood in speaking.,

  42. Obama
He has his speech writers write the speeches for him. Isn't it easy to look at a piece of paper and read? But when he by himself with a reporter or an interviewer he doesn't have that little piece of paper. *snicker*

  43. GM took health care away from AMERICAN strikers yesterday. Is this a product you want to buy? A company that will make you sick and deprive you of healthcare?

  44. Trump's such a fool. GM establishes plants in the countries where they sell cars, like the rest of the car industry. The plants in China supply the Chinese market, not US consumers. China is GM’s largest market. In 2018, GM sold more than 3.64 million vehicles in China; in America, it sold about 3.5 million. You can't just easy "leave the Chinese market", as Trump say. He's not a businessman.
